Fuente Fuente OpusX Society Cigar Premiering Next Month
Think Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars are tough to find? A new OpusX is premiering at a launch party in Miami next month, and this one is made exclusively for retailers that carry products from the OpusX Society—an upscale lifestyle and accessories company featuring Fuente-branded products such as ashtrays, cutters and lighters. The Society was started by designer and longtime Fuente collaborator Manny Iriarte.
It was quite a teaser last year when the OpusX Society cigar was first displayed under glass at the PCA trade show. There were no samples being given out and no release date. Information was nearly nonexistent other than it being a special edition made for retailers that carry the Society’s line of products. The cigar may seem out of reach for most, but if your local retailer isn’t part of the Society, you can have the chance to try one on October 19. They’re premiering at a lavish cocktail party hosted by Tabacón Cigars & Spirits in Miami. Both Iriarte and Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. will be in attendance.
No. 1 Cigar of the Year. In order to even stock these cigars, retailers must qualify for eligibility.
Officially called the Fuente Fuente OpusX Edición de la Sociedad, the new cigar is a unique blend with unique packaging and measures 6 1/4 inches by 49 ring gauge. The cigar has a suggested retail price of $90 per cigar, or $1,800 per 20-count box.
There’s no specific date as to when these cigars will start shipping to other retail of the OpusX Society around the country (268 in total, according to Iriarte). Exact details of the blend have not been disclosed.
“I am not giving out details at the moment,” Fuente tells Cigar Aficionado. “I want people to taste it and not prejudge. I worked years on this blend. And yes, it is Fuente with the Fuente signature style but deep and earthy. This definitely and intentionally has a different tweak to the blend.”
Only 150 tickets for this premiere party are available. At $800 per head, it’s not a cheap affair, but each guest will receive:
- An OpusX Society cigar
- An OpusX Society ceramic ashtray
- An OpusX Society carbon fiber cigar case
- Two Arturo Fuente cigars
- A bottle of “ultra-” Dominican rum
Anyone who attends will also get the opportunity to purchase a box and get it autographed.
“It has been a long process of building a new image and concept,” said Iriarte in a press release. “We have always tried to elevate the OpusX brand to the highest level and it has been achieved through accessories and collaborations.”
