Padrón Begins Shipping Last Year’s TAA Cigar

Padrón Cigars recently began shipping the Padrón Black No. 89, a TAA exclusive offered at the 2018 TAA show in Casa de Campo, Dominican Republic.
“The 89 just started shipping in February,” Jorge Padrón told Cigar Aficionado.
The No. 89, a 6 inch by 46 ring gauge smoke that comes in either natural wrapper or maduro, has a look quite unlike other Padróns due to its black-and-gold band. Like other Padróns, however, it’s made in Nicaragua from Nicaraguan tobacco leaves. The cigar has a suggested retail price of $16.50 and comes in boxes of 10.
Because last year’s TAA exclusive is only coming out now, Padrón does not plan on offering a TAA exclusive for the 2019 show, which begins on March 17. Previous TAA smokes made by Padrón include the Padrón 48, a $20 smoke measuring 5 1/2 by 60, and the Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Toro, which is 5 by 56 and retails for $15.30. The Toro scored 94 points in a Cigar Aficionado taste test in 2017.
