Romeo y Julieta Capuletos Unveiled in Verona

Call it poetic justice. The Romeo y Julieta Capuletos, 6 inches by 53 ring gauge, debuted in Verona, Italy this week at a special event—the same city where Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet took place. The cigar is one of three Edición Limitada cigars announced last March at the annual Habanos Festival, represents a new size for the Romeo y Julieta brand. Known as Sobresalientes in Cuban factories, the relatively new format has previously been used on Regional Edition cigars.
Habanos said the launch in Verona was part of a new marketing strategy to launch its special release cigars in single cities, before expanding distribution around the world. The other two Edición Limitadas for 2016 are the Montecristo Dantes, 6 5/8 by 48, and Trinidad Topes, at 4 7/8 by 56. There is no official word on when those cigars will debut, or when the Romeo y Julieta Capuletos will reach other world markets.

The Verona event was organized by Diadema s.p.a, the Italian distributor of Habanos cigars, and was hosted by its president, Andrea Vincenzi and Jose Maria Lopez, the director of Strategic Marketing for Habanos. The gala evening was attended by 170 people including of Italian smoking clubs and representatives of other Habanos' distributors from other countries. The guests smoked the Capuletos and a Romeo y Julieta Churchill then received two of the Capuletos as a gift after the evening.
