Final Regius Cigar Made Just For The U.S.A.

Completing a red, white and blue Americana theme, Regius Cigars of London has unveiled the third and final installment of its Exclusivo U.S.A. series of cigars called Regius Exclusivo U.S.A. Oscuro Especial. It sports a blue primary band and is draped in a dark, Mexican San Andrés wrapper with Nicaraguan fillers and binder. The first two regional cigars for the U.S. (Regius Original and Regius Claro Especial) sported a red and white Regius band, respectively. The secondary band appears on all three cigars.
"This is the Oscuro Especial, the final part of the Exclusivo U.S.A. series," Akhil Kapacee of Regius of London Cigars told Cigar Insider. "The [Mexican San Andrés wrapper] we are using has that characteristic sweetness with a very clean aftertaste. I chose the wrapper because it [won't overpower] the filler and binder, like some well-processed dark wrappers have a tendency to do."
Kapacee says the Oscuro Especial will be the strongest Exclusivo U.S.A. cigar to date.
"The blend has some strength and spice yet carries a nuanced progression within the cigar," Kapacee said. "It will appeal to those who like maduros, as well as people who prefer a fuller bodied cigar. The main difference between the Oscuro and the other lines in the Exclusivo U.S.A. series is the strength and intensity. Whilst it is still complex, nuanced and ‘rounded', it is definitely the strongest cigar we have put on the market to date."
The cigars are made at Plasencia Cigars in Estelí, Nicaragua, and will be distributed by Quesada Cigars.
Shipping in February, Oscuro Especial comes in the same six sizes as the other Exclusivo lines: Robusto, at 4 1/2 inches by 52 ring gauge; Fat Perfecto, 5 3/4 by 60; Toro, 6 by 52; Pressed Perfecto, 6 1/2 by 54; Toro Extra, 6 1/2 by 56; and Lancero Extra, 7 1/2 by 42. The cigars will retail from $8.95 to $12.95.
