A Limited-Edition Bosphorus From OZ Family Cigars

The Dominican Bosphorus brand from OZ Family Cigars is getting a new, limited-edition size, but unlike the core line, it’s made with a closed foot and pigtail cap. Retailers should be seeing the cigars in September.
Called Laguito No. 6, the thick smoke measures 6 1/2 inches by 56 ring gauge and is set to retail for $15.95 each. In addition to its distinct head and foot, another notable difference is the shape. The new cigars are rolled in the rounded, parejo format (Bosphorus cigars from the core line are box-pressed).
They’ll come in 12-count boxes but only 1,500 boxes are being released. The blend is the same as that of the core Bosphorus brand: Ecuador Habano wrapper, Nicaraguan filler and two binders—one Ecuador Connecticut, the other from Nicaragua. Along with the rest of the line, the Laguito No. 6 is made in the Dominican Republic at the Casa Carrillo factory.
“When you see the pigtails and the closed foot, it gives more nuance to the smoking experience and I think it really celebrates the artistry of cigars,” brand owner Tim Ozgener tells Cigar Aficionado, adding that the size was created to mimic the Cuban Cohiba Behike BHK 56. “I was really impressed with Casa Carrillo and how well the factory can make pigtailed cigars with closed feet.”
