Bombay Tobak To Debut MQBA Next Month
Bombay Tobak's MQBA will launch in four sizes, from left: Diadem, measuring 7 inches by 56 ring gauge; Toro, 6 by 52; Torpedo, 6 by 52; and Nikka, 6 1/2 by 42.

Bombay Tobak, best known for its Gaaja cigars, is planning on introducing a new cigar brand at the International Cigar & Pipe Retailers trade show next month. Called MQBA (pronounced em-kyoo-bha) the new cigar is an Ecuadoran puro, crafted only with tobacco leaves from a single farm in Ventana, Ecuador.

“The farm is 35 hectares,” brand owner Mel Shah told Cigar Aficionado. “We do not own the farm but we have leased this land since 2008. The production is entirely handled by us, giving us the control of the type of tobaccos we grow. We also have a manager that handles day-to-day operations in Ventana.”

MQBA will launch in four sizes: Diadem, a large, double-tapered figurado measuring 7 inches by 56 ring gauge; Toro, 6 by 52; Nikka, 6 1/2 by 42; and Torpedo, 6 by 52.

The cigars are priced from $12.00 to $16.60 and ship in 24-count boxes and 4-count gift packs (save for the Diadem gift pack, which includes three cigars). According to Shah, the new cigar line will debut next month at IPR and begin shipping to retailers later in the year.

“[MQBA] will be shipped in the first week of October 2018,” Shah said.

Like all Bombay Tobak cigar brands, MQBA is rolled at the Tabacos de Costa Rica cigar factory in Costa Rica.
