Boveda Humidity Packs

Is your desktop humidor stuck in the dark ages? If you’re still fumbling around with humidification beads or making a mess trying to soak floral foam with distilled water, then the answer is yes. Even expensive desktop humidors are outfitted with some of the most inefficient humidification. Boveda recognized this paradox and addressed it by creating two-way humidity control packets.
You simply take one of Boveda’s patented little brown packets, place it in your humidor, and leave it there for 90 days until it’s time for replacement. Each packet contains a solution of salt, purified water and a natural thickening agent. The magic happens with the patented, two-way, reverse-osmosis membrane, which emits or absorbs moisture as needed to regulate humidity at the prescribed level. No maintenance, refilling or activation is required.
Boveda’s abilities are lavishly showcased in its 25th anniversary humidor, a beautiful box made by French atelier Elie Bleu. With its dovetailed woodwork and intricate marquetry, the humidor has all the hallmarks of Elie Bleu construction, except that it only takes Boveda packets. At $15,000, it’s priced like a typical Elie Bleu as well. If that’s too steep, you can mount wood or metal holders on your existing humidor for $25.
Packets come in humidity levels to match your preference: 65, 69, 72 and 75 percent relative humidity. Starter kits at 84 percent are for brand-new, bone-dry humidors. A set of four packets goes for $21. You need only replace them every three months, so that’s an entire year of nearly maintenance-free humidification. No reason to waste time (and make a mess) refilling your outdated receptacle when you can now just set it and forget it.
