Cuba Celebrating 55 Years of Cohiba With Virtual Cigar Festival

The Habanos Festival was canceled for 2021, but Cuba’s cigar industry is putting on a virtual event called Habanos World Days that will bring some of the Festival’s signature experiences to the computer screen. If the world can’t come to Havana, Havana will go to the world.
The virtual event, which takes place from May 4 to May 6, features presentations, tours of cigar factories and fields, announcements about new products and other virtual features that resemble elements of past Habanos Festivals. Of course, being a virtual event, you will have to bring your own cigars to the party. Registration is free and open to all, regardless of country. Some elements (such as the press conference) are only for journalists.
The star of the show this year is Cuba’s premier cigar brand, Cohiba, which is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2021. It’s fairly likely that Habanos S.A., Cuba’s cigar company, will have a commemorative Cohiba of some kind to mark the occasion, but the company is tight lipped on such details. In addition, any cigar teased at the event will almost certainly take many months to make it to the retail channels, as even in normal times there’s a long delay between the smokes announced and the cigars that actually go on sale. And these have been anything but normal times for Cuba, and the world in general.
