General Cigar Seeking New President, Régis Broersma Heads To Europe

General Cigar, makers of the CAO brands, is looking for a new president. Régis Broersma, the company’s current president, has accepted another position within Scandinavian Tobacco Group (General’s parent company) and will be relocating to Europe, according to a release issued by STG. Broersma also served as senior vice president of STG’s North America branded business division.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the U.S. and with General Cigar,” said Broersma, who is in his early 40s and started as General’s president in 2016. “And will surely miss both the organization, our customers, business partners and, of course, the cigar category.”
Broersma’s new responsibilities in Europe will be to take over STG’s smoking tobacco and accessories division, but he will remain in his current roles until the company finds a successor.
Broersma was born in the Netherlands and has worked with STG since 2002.
