General Launches Value-Priced Cohiba Blue
The idea is affordable luxury.
General Cigar, makers of the non-Cuban versions of Hoyo de Monterrey, Partagas, Punch and Cohiba, has released a more affordable version of its storied Cohiba brand. Called Cohiba Blue, the value-priced cigar is crafted with a three-country blend of tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The cigar launched earlier this month and is available at retail stores now.
Cohiba blue is rolled with a Honduran wrapper and binder, both leaves hailing from the Olancho San Agustín region of the country. The filler blend contains Honduran Jamastran, Nicaraguan Ometepe and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobaccos.
The cigar is available in four sizes: Churchill , which measures 7 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge ($10.99); Robusto, 5 1/2 by 50 ($9.99); Rothschild, 4 1/2 by 50 ($8.99); and Toro 6 by 54 ($10.49).
Cohiba Blue is billed as medium-bodied cigar and ships in blue, 20-count wooden boxes. The cigar is rolled at General Cigar Dominicana in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
