Joya Honors Owner with Fourth Cinco Décadas: El Doctor

Joya de Nicaragua celebrated its 50th anniversary two years ago by releasing a commemorative cigar line called Cinco Décadas. Meaning five decades in Spanish, the tribute line was created to honor those who have shaped the Joya brand and the Nicaraguan cigar industry altogether. Joya is adding a new size to the line called El Doctor, which honors Dr. Alejandro Martínez Cuenca, the visionary chairman and owner of Joya de Nicaragua since 1994.
Cinco Décadas El Doctor is a 6 inch by 52 ring gauge, all-Nicaraguan torpedo that will retail for $20 a smoke in boxes of 10. The limited-edition cigars will be available exclusively for Drew Diplomat Retailers and only 600 boxes of the rare torpedoes will be sent out alongside 600 boxes of each of its three predecessors: El Fundador.
The double-tapered Diadema perfecto was released in 2018 in the same vitola as the factory’s first cigar. Also released in 2018, the El General Churchill pays tribute to a pioneer of Nicaraguan tobacco, and the El Fundador of 2019 re the founders of the company, Juan Francisco Bermejo and Simón Camacho.
“Cinco Décadas is the cigar we are most proud of in Joya de Nicaragua… Our plan is to release one new size every year until the next big anniversary, but this year we may have another surprise, so stay tuned,” hinted Daniel Barrios, global commercial director of Joya de Nicaragua.
The limited-edition El Doctor will be directly introduced to the public by Juan Martínez, executive president of Joya de Nicaragua, and the Drew Estate sales team in digital events across the country next month.
