La Aroma De Cuba Coming In Connecticut Cover Leaf

Ashton’s extensive La Aroma de Cuba series now comes in a light, Connecticut-seed wrapper. Aptly called La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut, the new cigars begin shipping to retailers tomorrow. Like other brands within the La Aroma de Cuba line, the new Connecticut is made in Nicaragua by the Garcia family at My Father Cigars and distributed through Ashton Distributors Inc.
Besides the Connecticut-seed wrapper from Ecuador, the entire blend consists of Nicaraguan tobacco grown by the Garcias on their family-owned farms. According to Ashton, every leaf of tobacco in La Aroma Connecticut “undergoes an intensive triple fermentation,” before each cigar is rolled in the entubado style and finished with a Cuban-style, triple cap.
La Aroma de Cuba Connecticut is offered in the following seven sizes:
- Churchill, 7 inches by 50 ring gauge
- Corona, 5 1/2 by 44
- El Jefe, 7 by 58
- Immensa, 5 3/4 by 60
- Monarch, 6 by 52
- Robusto, 5 1/4 by 54
- Rothschild, 5 by 50
In keeping with La Aroma de Cuba’s core aspect of value, the cigars have suggested retail prices ranging from $6.25 to $8.45 and come packaged in 24-count or 25-count boxes, depending on the size.
Although Ashton already has a milder, Sathya Levin tells Cigar Aficionado that this new release is not the same. “The overall market for Connecticut-wrapped cigars is robust,” Levin says. “This edition offers a fantastic, mild to medium-bodied blend from Nicaragua under the burgeoning La Aroma de Cuba banner in a price range vastly different from Ashton.”
The new Connecticut brings the La Aroma de Cuba series to seven different brands, including the core line, the La Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor.
