La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro Showcases Hybrid Wrapper
A new, limited-edition hybrid wrapper. Called La Gloria Cubana Criollo de Oro, the cigar’s wrapper is a genetic cross between Criollo ’98 and Pele de Oro tobacco varietals.
The line was the result of Connecticut broadleaf binder and a mix of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers for a strength level that General says is medium in body.
The cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at El Credito, a section of the General Cigar Dominicana factory dedicated to producing the La Gloria Cubana brand.
Criollo de Oro will be available in two sizes: Toro, measuring 5 3/4 inches by 54 ring gauge, and a 7-by-48 Churchill. Suggested retail prices are set at $10.49 and $10.99, respectively.
Packaged in dark wooden boxes and art-deco cigar bands, Criollo de Oro is limited to 3,100 boxes of 20 cigars. This follows other La Gloria cigars released earlier this year such the La Gloria Cubana Medio Tiempo.
Forged Cigar Co. is a subsidiary of European tobacco giant Scandinavian Tobacco Group, and distributes brands such as La Gloria Cubana, non-Cuban Partagas and Diesel.
