Los Statos Deluxe Goes Mild

In 2022, Scandinavian Tobacco Group resurrected its sleepy Los Statos Deluxe brand with an updated blend and more modern packaging. Now, the brand is getting its third and lightest version, called Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut, which shipped earlier this month. And if you thought the new design stood out on the shelves, these pop brilliantly with a purple presentation that's sure to catch your eye.
Created by STG brand manager Justin Andrews and Matt Booth, who serves as creative director and is known for Room101 cigars, the line is intended to be mild to medium-bodied.
The blend consists of an Ecuador Connecticut wrapper, Nicaraguan Habano binder and a mix of Nicaraguan fillers grown in Jalapa and Estelí. There is also some Pennsylvanian broadleaf in the filler as well. In a bit of a departure, the new cigars are made in Nicaragua by Joya de Nicaragua, whereas the other two Los Statos Deluxe lines are produced in Honduras at the HATSA factory, which is owned by STG.
“When we started developing Los Statos Deluxe Connecticut, we wanted it to be a ‘smoker’s Connecticut’ in that it is a milder cigar compared to the rest of the Los Statos Deluxe portfolio, yet it has plenty of dimension, depth and nuance,” says senior brand manager Matt Wilson.
The line is available in the following four sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 inches by 50 ($8.79); Toro, 6 by 52 ($9.49); Churchill, 7 by 48 ($9.99); and Gigante, 6 by 60 ($9.99). Shipping in boxes of 20, the cigars come individually wrapped in paper sleeves.
Los Statos Deluxe is distributed by Forged Cigar Co., a subsidiary of STG.
