Matilde Serena Now Made In Maduro
The mild Matilde Serena series from the Dominican Republic will be getting a stronger version covered in a dark, Mexican wrapper. Aptly called Serena Maduro, this marks the first extension to the original Serena, which was released in 2016.
Instead of the lighter Ecuador Connecticut cover leaf that cloaks the core line, Serena Maduro is made with a maduro wrapper grown in Olor binder from the Dominican Republic. According to the company, changes were done to increase the strength and complexity of the blend.
Though stronger than the original, brand owner Enrique Seijas says the cigars are medium in body.
Made at Jochy Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma factory in the Dominican Republic, the new brand comes in two sizes: Robusto, measuring 5 1/4 inches by 50 ring gauge ($8.50), and Toro Bravo, 6 1/2 by 54 ($9). Both will ship in teal boxes of 20 and Matilde stated that more vitolas will be added in the future.
Retailers can expect Matilde Serena Maduro to arrive during the first quarter of next year.
