My Favorite Cigar

The golf super agent “Chubby” Chandler once said of Spanish golfer Miguel Ángel Jímenez: “Miguel never rushes anything, he savors everything. He just inhales life, and he exudes it. I’ve never known someone more comfortable in his own skin than Miguel.”
To spend time with Jímenez is to understand this perspective completely. He loves the tastiest parts of life, loves his Rioja and Ribera del Duero wines, a great espresso, a flavorful whisky or rum. And, of course, he loves a great cigar. He smokes about four a day, often on the practice range before a round and when he’s playing in a pro-am.
Among his 40-plus worldwide victories are 10 PGA Tour Champions wins. And while there’s nothing like savoring an OpusX after a victory, his favorite time to smoke a cigar is right after breakfast with a cup of strong coffee or espresso.
Jímenez, 53, has three homes. He maintains a big humidor at his home in Spain, small ones in Switzerland, but none in the Dominican Republic. “In the Dominican Republic, it’s not necessary to have a humidor because the climate and humidity is perfect for my cigars,” says Jímenez, the man who inhales life.
