Partagas Heritage Series Pays Homage To Partagas Of The Past

What's packaged like the Cuban Partagás number series, has a wrapper like the Partagas Spanish Rosado and is blended with the same fillers as the Partagas 160? The answer is the new Partagas Heritage line. It's the newest release from General Cigar Co. and is intended to be a super Partagas brand of sorts. The company took some of the most distinct aspects of previous Partagas releases and combined them to create a brand that honors the heritage of Partagas in blend, box and band.

According to General, owners and manufacturers of nonCuban Partagas cigars, the blend for the Partagas Heritage series was established 10 years ago, but put on hold until they could come up with the right concept.

"We set out to create a retrospective blend that celebrated the very best of Partagas to date," said Jhonys Diaz, vice president of operations for General. "This was a group effort with our blenders in the Dominican Republic and Central America working with the marketing team to achieve the final taste."

The Partagas Heritage series

The blend starts with a proprietary Honduran wrapper that General says is cultivated especially for this brand. It was grown in the Olancho San Agustín valley. General says that the wrapper is similar to that used on the Partagas Spanish Rosado brand. The Connecticut broadleaf binder holds together a filler blend of Honduran tobacco from Jamastran as well as the same Dominican Piloto Cubano and Mexican San Andrés leaves found in the Partagas 160.

It comes packaged in boxes of 20 and is available in four sizes: Rothschild, measuring 4 1/2 inches by 50 ring gauge; Gigante, 6 by 60; Robusto, 5 1/2 by 52; and Churchill, 7 by 49. They have suggested retail prices from $8.49 to $9.99.

Partagas Heritage cigars are made in the Dominican Republic at the General Cigar Dominicana factory and launched last week.
