Posh New Humidors From Rocky Patel

Rocky Patel Cigars has just started to sell two limited-edition humidors filled with two of the company’s newer cigar brands. One is emblazoned with the red, gold and blue colors and logos for the Rocky Patel Sixty, the other the gold and white colors for its Aged Limited and Rare Second Edition line.
“We just got the humidors in for the Sixty and the A.L.R.,” said Rocky Patel on Thursday. “We had our first sale of them yesterday at Burn,” his cigar lounge in Naples, Florida, where he makes his headquarters. The humidors went out to cigar shops yesterday.
Each humidor retails for $2,500 and contains 100 cigars. The Rocky Patel Sixty Humidor comes filled with 100 toros, cigars measuring 6 1/2 inches long by 52 ring gauge. The San Andrés Valley of Mexico. They are rolled at the TaviCusa factory in Nicaragua, which is owned by Patel.
The A.L.R. Second Edition Humidor also has 100 cigars, but those smokes are extra special, a size known as the Bala, only available in the A.L.R. line via the humidor. The Bala shape is the work of Hamlet Paredes, a star cigar roller from Cuba who has worked for Patel since 2015. “It’s a size that Hamlet created with a special mold,” said Patel. It’s 5 3/4 inches long, with a 58 ring gauge at its fattest point, giving it a more bulbous bottom. The shape has been used before in other Rocky Patel lines, but this is a first for A.L.R. The cigar is round, and made in Nicaragua with Nicaraguan tobaccos on the inside and a Mexican wrapper.
What really sets A.L.R. apart is the two years the cigars spend in the factory after rolling. The A.L.R.Second Edition has done well for Patel: the Toro size rated 94 points and was named Cigar Aficionado’s No. 5 Cigar of 2019.
Each model is limited to 250 humidors.
