Rocky Patel Coming Out With Year Of The Dragon

For the first time ever, Rocky Patel Cigars is coming out with a cigar to commemorate the Lunar New Year, which is also known as Chinese New Year. Rocky Patel Year of the Dragon, a limited-edition, one-size line packed in bold, red and gold boxes, will make its debut at the PCA Trade Show in March. Shipping is expected in April.
The Chinese New Year for 2024 is the Year of the Dragon. It begins on February 10.
The cigars are toros, six-and-a-half inches long by 52 ring gauge, and nearly the entire wrapper leaf is covered by the dual red bands that adorn the cigar. The smaller one, positioned nearer the head, has gold type reading 2024 Year Of The Dragon beneath the familiar Rocky Patel logo. The second, larger band is decorated with a large, twisted dragon in golden scales.
“It’s limited production—maybe 6,000 boxes,” says Nish Patel. They will sell for $35 per cigar, and come packed 10 to each box. The cigars will be sold in the United States and around the world.
“I would say it’s a medium to full cigar,” says Patel. It’s rolled at the Tavicusa cigar factory in Nicaragua, using a blend of tobaccos from Central America and Mexico. There are two binder leaves, one grown in the Jamastran Valley of Honduras, the other in Nicaragua. The filler is entirely Nicaraguan and the wrapper is from the San Andrés Valley of Mexico. All the Nicaraguan tobaccos are grown on farms owned by the company.
