Y Panda By Luciano Cigars Coming Later This Month

This weekend, Luciano Meirelles, co-owner of Luciano Cigars, will be attending the Cigar Association trade show in Las Vegas to display some of his newest releases and among them will be a brand called Y Panda by Luciano Cigars. It’s made in collaboration with Linxu “Panda” Yan, who will serve as brand ambassador for the line. The cigars are expected to start shipping by the end of this month.
Yan emigrated to the United States from China at the age of 19 and after graduation entered the cigar world by working in a retail shop in Memphis, Tennessee. He later moved to Estelí, Nicaragua, and met Meirelles, who took Yan under his wing. Y Panda is a tribute to Yan’s journey and the challenges he has overcome.
Blended by Meirelles and Yan, Y Panda by Luciano Cigars consists of a Corojo ’98 Arapiraca and one Ecuador Sumatra, with a mix of Nicaraguan filler from Jalapa and Estelí. The cigars are intended to be medium in of strength.
Made in Nicaragua at the Luciano Tabacos S.A. factory in Estelí, the line comes in four sizes: Corona Gorda, measuring 5 5/8 inches by 46 ring gauge ($10.20); Robusto, 5 by 50 ($11.70); Toro, 6 by 52 ($12.70); and Sublime, 6 1/2 by 54 ($13.70). All sizes ship in boxes of 20.
"I have always found that life is best lived when we embrace its contradictions,” Meirelles says. “Y Panda is about finding the good in the bad, the opportunity when things go wrong, and some of life's answers even when overwhelmed with questions and uncertainty.”
