My Favorite Cigar

Bellas Artes Robusto Extra
Dan Patrick makes his living interviewing people from all arenas of life: basketball legend Charles Barkley, NFL great Howie Long and actor Kevin James are only a few of the recent guests on his radio show, which streams on Peacock. It’s an eclectic list for this eclectic smoker. The 65-year-old has been enjoying cigars for years, and today his go-to smoke is the Bellas Artes by A.J. Fernandez. He will also light a Hoyo de Monterrey Double Corona now and then, and has enjoyed Fuente Fuente OpusX cigars as well.
Patrick, who rose to fame as a longtime anchor of ESPN’s “SportsCenter” back in the day, puts his guests at ease, like Bengals’ rookie kicker Evan Mherson, who came on the show after nailing a 52-yarder to beat the Titans on January 22. “Feeling pretty confident on the sideline before that kick, Evan?” Patrick asks. “I would say I was,” Mherson answers. “I think that’s one of the most important things for a kicker to have, confidence.” (The 22-year-old also kicked the game-winner in overtime to send his team to the Super Bowl.) Patrick, always ready with a quick nickname, bestowed one on the youngster. “I kind of like ‘Kick-Pherson,” Patrick says with a smile.
