My Favorite Cigar

Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 7
A few years back, Pete Bevacqua, the chairman of NBC Sports Group, attended a function in Florida hosted by Cigar Aficionado publisher Marvin R. Shanken. It was there that he met cigarmaker Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana. But it wasn’t until this last fall that he finally had one of Gomez’s coveted cigars, his Litto Gomez Small Batch No. 7, which he sort of stumbled over while shopping at M & M Cigar in Norwalk, Connecticut.
“They had four of them and I bought them all,” says Bevacqua, who has been a regular cigar smoker for upwards of 15 years. “I don’t know if they knew what they had there, but I had been wanting to smoke one and it’s become my favorite cigar.”
Bevacqua enjoys quite a bit about the 6 1/4-inch-long, 52-ring smoke.
“I love the texture, the rich flavor and the overall construction which is amazing,” says Bevacqua, the former CEO of the PGA of America. “I’ve smoked three of them and have been holding on to that fourth one.” His favorite place to smoke is on a walking trail near his home in New Canaan, Connecticut, taking his dog out for a stroll.
