Psyko Seven Nicaragua Launching At TAA Convention
Ventura Cigar Co. has once again collaborated with Nicaraguan cigarmaker Indiana Ortez on a new cigar that’s rolled entirely with Nicaraguan tobacco. Called Psyko Seven Nicaragua, the new smoke is set to debut at the Tobacconists’ Association of America conference.
Aside from the wrapper, all the tobacco within the Psyko Seven Nicaragua cigar was grown by Ortez’s family. According to Ventura, the Nicaraguan desflorado wrapper is from a 2007 crop. Tobacco growers sometimes remove the flower of a tobacco plant, which forces the plant to redirect its nutrients to its tobacco leaves. This process is known as “desflorado,” or deflowering. Deflowered tobacco is said to be stronger than tobacco whose flower has been allowed to remain.
The new brand comes in 20-count boxes in three sizes: a 5 inch by 50 ring gauge Robusto ($8.49); 6 by 50 Toro ($8.99); and 6 by 60 Gordo ($9.49). The cigars are being rolled at Agroindustrial Nicaraguense de Tabacos S.A. in Condega, which is Ortez’s family factory.
This marks the second time that created Fathers, Friends, and Fire, a limited, event-only cigar, for the company.
While Psyko Seven Nicaragua will debut at TAA, it will not be exclusive to retailers who are of the organization. Instead, it will ship nationwide shortly after the conference.
